Privacy Policy

01Who we are

The data controller for personal information collected through this website is ASCND Research LLC, trading as ASCND Research, of 1415 Fulton Rd #205, Ste #343, Santa Rosa, CA 95403.

You can reach us about any privacy matter at orders@ascndresearch.com. [If a Data Protection Officer or EU/UK representative is appointed, name them here.]

02What we collect

Information you give us

  • Order and account details: name, institution or organization, work email, phone number, shipping address, and country.
  • Research use declaration: the fact and timestamp of your certification that the order is for laboratory research use only.
  • Correspondence: the content of enquiries you send us through the contact form or by email.
  • Newsletter sign-up: your email address, where you provide it.

Information collected automatically

  • Technical data: IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system, and referring page.
  • Usage data: pages viewed, time on page, and interactions with the catalog.
  • Local storage: your cart contents, stored in your own browser. See Cookies and local storage below.

Payment information

Payment card details are collected and processed directly by our payment processor. We do not receive, store, or have access to your full card number, expiry, or security code. We receive only a transaction reference, the outcome, and a truncated card identifier.

03How we use it

  • To process, fulfil, and ship your order, and to send order confirmations and Certificates of Analysis.
  • To verify buyer eligibility and maintain the research-use records our RUO Policy requires.
  • To respond to your enquiries and provide customer support.
  • To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, misuse, and breaches of our Terms.
  • To meet accounting, tax, customs, and other legal obligations.
  • To send product and lab updates, where you have asked to receive them. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • To understand aggregate site usage and improve the catalog and site.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

04Legal bases for processing

Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies to you, we rely on the following bases:

  • Performance of a contract — to process and deliver your order.
  • Legal obligation — to keep tax, customs, and export-compliance records.
  • Legitimate interests — to secure our site, prevent fraud, enforce our RUO Policy, and improve our service, balanced against your rights.
  • Consent — for marketing email and any non-essential analytics. You may withdraw consent at any time.

05Who we share with

We share personal information only with service providers who process it on our behalf under contract, and only as necessary:

  • Payment processing[payment provider], to take payment and screen for fraud.
  • Shipping and delivery[carriers], to deliver your order and provide tracking.
  • Hosting and content delivery[hosting provider].
  • Email delivery[email provider], for transactional and, where consented, marketing email.
  • Analytics — None.

All fonts and JavaScript libraries are served from our own domain. We do not load resources from third-party content delivery networks, so viewing the site does not disclose your IP address or user agent to any external font or script provider.

We may also disclose information where required by law, court order, or a lawful request from a public authority; to establish or defend legal claims; to enforce our Terms; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

06Cookies and local storage

Your shopping cart is kept in your browser’s local storage under the key ascnd_cart_v1. It never leaves your device until you submit an order, and you can clear it by emptying your cart or clearing site data in your browser.

[List any cookies actually set — strictly necessary, preference, analytics, marketing — with purpose and lifespan. If non-essential cookies are introduced, a consent banner is required in the EU and UK before they are set.]

07Retention

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, and then delete or anonymize it.

  • Order and transaction records — retained for [retention period], as required by tax and customs law.
  • Research use declarations — retained for [retention period] as a compliance record.
  • Correspondence — retained for [retention period] after the matter is closed.
  • Marketing contacts — retained until you unsubscribe.

08International transfers

We ship internationally, and some of our service providers operate outside your country. Where personal information is transferred out of the UK or European Economic Area, we rely on an adequacy decision or on Standard Contractual Clauses together with any supplementary measures required.

[Confirm the transfer mechanism used with each processor listed in §5.] You may request a copy of the safeguards in place by contacting us.

09Security

We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk, including encryption of data in transit over TLS, access controls limiting staff access to order data on a need-to-know basis, and a payment architecture in which card data never reaches our systems.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant supervisory authority where the law requires it.

10Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you, and receive a copy.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Request deletion, where we have no overriding obligation to retain it.
  • Object to, or request restriction of, processing based on our legitimate interests.
  • Receive your information in a portable, machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out.
  • Opt out of marketing email, via the unsubscribe link in any message.

To exercise any of these, email orders@ascndresearch.com. We will respond within the period the applicable law requires and may need to verify your identity first. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

If you are in the UK or EEA and believe we have mishandled your information, you may lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority — [e.g. the ICO in the UK] — though we would appreciate the chance to address it first.

[If you sell to California residents, add the CCPA/CPRA disclosures: categories of personal information collected and disclosed in the preceding 12 months, the right to opt out of “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising, and a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link.]

11Children

This site and our products are not directed to anyone under 21. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

12Changes and contact

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or the law. Material changes will be announced on this page and reflected in the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the site after a change indicates acceptance.
